About the Conference

The National Conference on Medical Sciences (NCMS) was originally hosted by the School of Medical Sciences, Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) in 1995. It was an annual event for the School of Medical Sciences and they had successfully organized the conference for another twelve years. In 2001, the NCMS was put on hiatus to give way for the organizing of the "1st Asean Conference on Medical Sciences" in 18-21 May 2001. 12th NCMS was renamed as "International Medical and Health Congress 2007" to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Independence of Malaysia and paid tribute to a prominent Malaysian educator and scientist, Dr. Ungku Omar bin Ungku Ahmad (1931-1969).

In its 14th series, the honour of hosting the conference was passed on to the School of Dental Sciences, USM. Taking it up as a challenge, the School of Dental Sciences continued the legacy, and organized the event as the 14th National Conference on Medical and Health Sciences (14th NCMHS) in 2009.

Next, the School of Health Sciences and the School of Medical Sciences, took turns in hosting the conference in 2010 and 2011, respectively. In 2012, the School of Dental Sciences, once again became the host before passing the baton to the original host for the 18th NCMHS in 2013.

As of 2014, the School of Dental Sciences is once again trusted as the conference host. We welcome the support from everyone to ensure the 19th NCMHS would be a great success for us all.
